English Access Microscholarship: Kyrgyzstan
The English Access Microscholarship (ACCESS) Program in Kyrgyzstan makes the study of English accessible to adolescents from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. While working on their language skills, participants become familiar with aspects of U.S. culture as they develop a deeper understanding of U.S. society. A greater sensitivity to cultural differences, coupled with the acquired language skills, enables participants to take advantage of opportunities that had previously been unavailable to them. Outside of formal English language instruction, participants will engage in activities such as celebrating American holidays and taking cultural trips to the U.S. Embassy.
