Susan O. Rheney

Susan O. Rheney serves as a Managing Director at Kerr Rheney Group, LLC a consulting firm that assists nonprofits and other entities in designing and executing events involving fundraising, sports, and entertainment. Ms. Rheney is an experienced corporate board member for both public and private companies who has been a company director in several industries, including chemicals, energy, and general manufacturing. As a Director, she has been involved in multiple public offerings of debt and equity (including IPOs), numerous acquisitions and sales of successful businesses, as well as the disposition of troubled entities through restructuring and bankruptcy.  

Ms. Rheney began her career in accounting, briefly in the corporate arena but more extensively as an auditor, with Deloitte & Touche with specializations in banking and energy. She spent her career in finance and accounting, ultimately as a Principal with The Sterling Group, Inc., a private equity firm, in the acquisition arena. Ms. Rheney served as Board Chairman and leader of a Search Committee during a CEO change at a public entity and as a member of Special Committees in publicly traded partnerships for both related party transactions and special investigations. She has been a member of and chaired the Audit Committee on each of eight boards, ranging in size and situation from small, private, troubled companies to the Fortune 500. Additionally, she has served on Finance, Governance, and Compensation Committees and on several boards including American Plumbing and Mechanical, Inc., the AXIA Group, Inc., CenterPoint Energy, Inc., Cenveo, Inc., Genesis Energy, Inc., Pawnee Industries, Inc., QEP Midstream Partners, LLC, and Texas Petrochemical Holdings, Inc. Ms. Rheney graduated from the University of Alabama with a B.S. in accounting and earned an MBA from Harvard University. She earned her CPA designation in 1982, is a Leadership Fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), and holds a certificate in Cyber Security Oversight from NACD.
