Serbia

American Councils Serbia opened in Belgrade in 2002 with the launch of a fellowship for newly-minted university instructors. In the ensuing years, AC Serbia has administered and supported international scholarships for hundreds of educators and other professionals, as well as college and high school students.

Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX), an exchange program for high school students across Europe and Eurasia, is currently the largest program supported by AC Serbia. FLEX has an average of 1,200 applicants and 50 participants annually.

Our office works closely with the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade and maintains relationships with vital stakeholders, including the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technological Development, and local community organizations and entities.

AC Serbia also serves as a regional hub for American Councils in Southeast Europe, with oversight on the region’s activity and internal support functions.
