Partner with Us
The National Examinations in World Languages (NEWL®) owes much of its success to its diverse network of partner organizations. The core mission of NEWL is to provide standardized assessments in less-commonly taught languages that allow students to demonstrate and receive credit for their language proficiency. From NEWL’s inception, American Councils has partnered with the College Board to ensure quality examinations. Additionally, the College Board has published an explicit endorsement recommending that NEWL results be treated as AP equivalents.
American Councils has strong partnerships in each language community to assist with outreach, professional development and language-specific pertinent challenges. Our language-specific partners include the American Council for Teachers of Russian (ACTR), Camões Institute, Luso-American Development Foundation (FLAD), the International Korean Educators Network (IKEN), Korean Education Centers in the USA and Canada, and Qatar Foundation International (QFI).
We invite organizations and institutions whose mission and vision align with our efforts to join us as partners. If you wish to partner with NEWL, please reach out to the Senior NEWL Coordinator, Huma M. Shamsi at hmshamsi@americancouncils.org.
