Advanced Russian Language and Area Studies Program (RLASP)
One of the longest-running and most respected Russian language and cultural immersion programs, RLASP combines intensive classroom instruction with a wide range of extracurricular activities, including internships and community service, regional field studies, conversation partners, and discussion groups with local students.

RLASP currently offers programming for the following languages and locations:
- Russian and optional Kazakh in Almaty, Kazakhstan
- Russian and optional Armenian in Yerevan, Armenia – NEW SITE
Balkan Language Initiative (BLI)
The Balkan Language Initiative offers intensive highly-individualized academic programming with structured overseas immersion, enabling students to make rapid gains in language proficiency and knowledge while living and studying in Southeast Europe.

BLI currently offers programming for the following languages and locations:
- Albanian in Tirana, Albania
- Bosnian in Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina
- Bulgarian in Sofia, Bulgaria
- Macedonian in Skopje, North Macedonia
- Serbian in Belgrade, Serbia
- Montenegrin and Serbian in Podgorica, Montenegro
Eurasian Regional Language Program (ERLP)
The Eurasian Regional Language Program (ERLP) provides high-quality language instruction in more than 15 languages, specially designed cultural programs, and expert logistical support to participants. Through homestays, cultural activities, and conversation partners, participants enjoy an unprecedented opportunity to immerse themselves in daily local life while improving their oral, listening, and reading proficiency in their language of study.

ERLP currently offers programming for the following languages and locations:
- Kazakh in Almaty, Kazakhstan
- Azerbaijani and Turkish in Baku, Azerbaijan
- Kyrgyz in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan
- Romanian and Ukrainian in Chisinau, Moldova
- Pashto, Persian (Dari/Farsi/Tajiki), Uzbek in Dushanbe, Tajikistan
- Chechen, Georgian, Ukrainian in Tbilisi, Georgia:
- Armenian in Yerevan, Armenia
Who Can Apply?
- At least two semesters of college-level target language instruction or the equivalent
- Minimum GPA of 2.7
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old by the application deadline
Financial Aid
Available through support from the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Department of Education, and several American Councils Scholarships, including the Diversity and Inclusion Scholarship and the Dan E. Davidson Scholarship for advanced language students. More information about financial aid can be found here.
