WASHINGTON — American Councils’ leadership met with Russia's Ambassador to the US, Anatoly Antonov, and representatives from the Russian Embassy to discuss US-Russian cooperation in the field of education.
During a visit on Tuesday, Acting President David Patton, PhD, highlighted several potential areas for increased collaboration between the two countries, including language and cultural studies, student exchanges, bilateral STEM programs, and practical training.
“It is now more critical than ever that the United States and Russia focus on strengthening our long-standing and firmly established relationships through educational initiatives,” Dr. Patton said. “The demand for meaningful engagement is extremely high on both sides and we all recognize the need to cultivate nuanced mutual understanding.”
